UPDATE ON JACKSON’S CONDITION:

Well, as a lot of you know, Jackson suffered a Mini-Stroke last Thursday. A day in the hospital and a bunch of tests haven’t slowed the old man down. Just listen to the last show you can hardly hear him drool. (Note – there is 15 mins of silence after the first break. Just keep listening to hear the whole show).

It all started last January…

Thad finally got out to Jacksonville to visit his parents who had moved out the year before because of Jackson’s job. It was the time of year when Jacksonville actually gets below freezing, and besides running out to Ronnie VanZant’s grave for a “Shot of Jack,” there wasn’t a whole lot going on. So to amuse themselves, they dug up an old idea that had been rattling around in their heads for years, and actually broadcast the first three Thad and His Dad Shows over something called Blog Talk Radio.”

Then, something unexpected happened…

Over 3,000 people downloaded “TheThad and His Dad Show.” What the hell had happened? But before they could figure it out, it was time for Thad to head back home to Laguna Beach. For the next few months, Thad couldn’t let go of the idea that maybe he and his Dad should give This Radio Thing a shot. He still can’t put his finger on when he actually made the decision, but all of a sudden, Thad found himself in his Explorer, along with his dog Quentin and his good buddy Vince’s dog Pi, heading east on the “10″ with his beloved Laguna Beach in his rear view mirror.

That was last April…

It was now the end of June, and the Guys were really not that much closer to making This Radio Thing a reality…it was time for a Gut Check.

Thad invited Jackson to join him out on the front porch to explain his predicament: “Pop, I’m 40 years old, I’ve left my life in California behind me, and it’s time to Fish or Cut Bait. We’ve been fooling around with this show for a couple of months now. I really want it to happen, but I don’t feel we’re giving it our best. We need to make a commitment: It’s time to Jump in with both feet, and I want you to join me. I’m giving Thad and His Dad six months to make it or break it. By January 1st, 2012, we should know what we have. Either it’s real, or we’re going to have a party to celebrate us giving it our best. ” He proceeded to share the rest of his vision with his Dad. Jackson was sold!

And Now…

The Guys find themselves facing not only a challenge…but a Journey. They don’t know where they’ll end up, but they know how long it will last. Six Months, Twenty-Six Weeks…186 Days.

We invite all of you to be a part of a Radio Show Being Born. Radio and the Internet are changing fast. It’s almost like the old days of Pirate Radio have returned. We’re going to give it our all, but we’re not going to make it with out all of you. We look forward to all of our old friends, even though they think we’re crazy, cheering us along, and to all the new friends we’re going to meet along the way.

Join Us on Our Journey…
